Pumpkin 'Muscade de Provence'

The standard market pumpkin of France, sold by all produce stands cut into big wedges with a bouquet of parsley in the hollow, merits its popularity. For me, 'Muscade de Provence' is the archetypal Cucurbita moschata. Its not-too-sweet flesh is wonderfully perfumed ("musky"), thick and firm. Simply fantastic flavor. The fruits are extremely handsome. Weighing 10 to 20 pounds, their thick rind ripens to a tawny ochre color; the form is a flattened round, with deeply pronounced ribs.

Our French heirloom seed is produced organically by a small seed farm in central France. Its production process is monitored by France's rigorous Ecocert program. The seed ships with both an Ecocert certificate and a phytosanitary certificate.
