Average soils--Pheasant's eye (Adonis aestivalis)

This subalpine annual has striking bright vermilion red flowers with black centers and a single row of petals. A member of the buttercup family, it has fine, ferny foliage, with the brilliantly colored blossoms held erect above them. Needs good drainage and full sun. Grows about 12-18" high.
