Variously known as nettle-leaved bellflower and English throatwort (it was once used for illnesses of the throat and neck, hence its name from Greek), among other names, this hardy perennial flowers from May to November, growing about 30 inches tall. Planted in full sun to light shade, its tubular, blue-violet blossoms attract hummingbirds. An excellent cutflower. Prefers well-drained soil. Hardy in Zones 4-7(8).
