Clary sage is one of France's showiest wildflowers. This towering biennial thrusts enormous spikes of lavender blossoms skyward the second year after planting, often continuing to bloom well into September. The blossoms are irresistable to hummingbirds, who hover around the stalks as if they were a highrise building. Clary sage is also a medicinal herb traditionally used in infusion as an eye wash.
Sow clary sage in light, well-drained soil in full sun from spring through early fall. Self sows nicely thereafter.
I've searched for a year to find the right source of French native wildflower seeds to offer you. Here they are! Certified organically grown, these seeds are produced on a family flower farm in the
Massif Central. One hundred percent of the process is artisanal, right down to the seed packets which are decorated with drawings of the content plants by the owner.
