Also known as sea poppy, because it is so often found on ocean-facing cliffs, this dryland hardy annual (
Glaucium flavum) is an extraordinarily beautiful plant. The foliage is gray and succulent (thick) and the blossoms are a clear light yellow with a tissue paper texture. They are followed by highly ornamental seedpods which are great in dried arrangements.
Plant yellow horned poppy in well-drained, light-textured soil where it is to grow. It transplants poorly. Sow in spring through early summer or in fall. Grows about a foot tall. Great xeriscape plant.
I've searched for a year to find the right source of French native wildflower seeds to offer you. Here they are! Certified organically grown, these seeds are produced on a family flower farm in the
Massif Central. One hundred percent of the process is artisanal, right down to the seed packets which are decorated with drawings of the content plants by the owner.
