Although known in the US as a hardy garden perennial, dyer's anthemis (
Anthemis tinctoria) is a wildflower throughout France. This easy plant, covered with sunny yellow daisies for a good part of the summer, loves a sunny dry spot and makes an excellent xeriscape plant that can really take the heat. Also attracts butterflies and is great in bouquets. Cut it back often for more bloom, or just let it go in a meadow planting.
Sow dyer's anthemis from spring through early fall in a sunny, well-drained location. Grows from 18" to 2' tall. Can be easily propagated by division.
I've searched for a year to find the right source of French native wildflower seeds to offer you. Here they are! Certified organically grown, these seeds are produced on a family flower farm in the
Massif Central. One hundred percent of the process is artisanal, right down to the seed packets which are decorated with drawings of the content plants by the owner.
