Average to wet soils--Greater bird's foot trefoil

Greater bird's foot trefoil (Lotus uliginosus)is a perennial hardy to Zone 7 (and warmer parts of Zone 6). It is native to acid, wet soils in France, and is a real asset if such an area exists on your property. Growing about 2 feet high, it blooms with bright yellow pea-like flowers for much of the summer. Greater bird's foot trefoil is a valuable host plant for butterflies and provides food for other wildlife as well. A member of the legume family, it fixes atmospheric nitrogen. Greater brid's foot trefoil will even tolerate areas that flooded intermittently, and thus makes a wonderful companion to Iris pseudacorus and other wetland species.

Soak the seed overnight before planting in a moist, sunny area. Not recommended for alkaline soils.

I've searched for a year to find the right source of French native wildflower seeds to offer you. Here they are! Certified organically grown, these seeds are produced on a family flower farm in the Massif Central. One hundred percent of the process is artisanal, right down to the seed packets which are decorated with drawings of the content plants by the owner.
