Soap-making, like perfumery, is a high art in France, and these soaps are the finest I've found in a country full of wonderful hand-made soaps. Made by two sisters and their two apprentices in a former tithe-barn dating from the 13th century. Their estate was once the principal farm of the most beautiful abbey in the valley of the Loire.
These soaps contain absolutely nothing synthetic. They are lovingly crafted according to an ancient (and secret) method, involving six different steps and several months. Only the purest, highest quality essential oils are used to scent the soaps. These are added in the last step of their fabrication, giving the soaps a beautiful marbled appearance. This marbling is echoed in the beautifully marbled, hand-printed paper in which each soap is hand-wrapped. Due to their lack of artificial colorings, these soaps are in natural vegetal tones of cream, greens, and browns. Their perfumes are subtle and evocative. Their lathers are unctuous and rich, leaving your skin feeling moisturized.
This thyme-carnation-cinnamon soap has a refreshing, stimulating scent that is as appropriate for men as for women. The soap contains: 64% pure olive oil; 16% coconut oil; natural essences of thym, clove, cinnamon, lavender, wild thyme (
serpolet), rosemary, and benzoin.
