Provençal jaspé salad bowl

Marbled glaze pottery--called jaspé in French--has been made in the Mediterranean Basin since the fifteenth century. In France, variations of the technique characterize antique pottery from regions as diverse as Savoie, Alsace, and Provence. This beautiful salad bowl is made and decorated by hand in Provence in the traditional manner. The color--a bit difficult to photograph--is deep golden yellow with swirls of dark green and burnt umber. Entire table services may be custom-ordered in this color. Oven- and dishwasher-safe.
