Norman milk pot

This deep red ceramic pot from the early 20th century was designed for heating milk.  The 4 small holes and larger central hole in the lid kept the milk from boiling over!  Simple but ingenious.  My favorite use for these pots is to use them as pique-fleurs:  I fill the pot with water, then insert fresh flowers through the holes in the lid in the manner of a traditional French pique-fleurs.  Very French country and very charming!
